Homeland Security buys over $450,000 in upscale gym memberships for TSA and ICE

Utter madness…and Democrats keep insisting the “cupboard is bare” with nothing left to cut in the Federal budget.

Department of Homeland Security will spend over $450,000 on gym memberships in an attempt to “improve working conditions” for TSA agents and Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees.

In June, DHS announced it was seeking a gym within a tenth of a mile from the Washington D.C. procurement office, seeking to give ICE employees working desk jobs the ability to exercise “primarily during the mid-day lunch period.”

"As part of the agency-wide Health and Wellness program, sponsored by Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has a requirement to provide ICE employees … with access/membership to a fully comprehensive state-of-the-art health club facility," the official solicitation said.

On July 7, DHS announced the fitness contract was awarded to Vida Fitness, an upscale urban gym that offers members a spa access, a salon, and “the rooftop Penthouse Pool and Lounge.”

its odd that leftist trolls manifest support for govt waste with any distraction they can think of.

My first suggestion is much of the mass transit in North County San Diego.
The buses are usually empty... and they spent hundreds over 400 million dollars on train line from oceanside to escondido.

when i see the train.. not often... I see may 0 to 3 people on it.

Covertibility doesn't quite grasp that there can be a difference in the magnitude of the executive order that clearly outweighs the number of them. A President with one executive order, for example, that re-institutes slavery would be far, far worse than a President with 400 executive orders all changing the color of paint of the capitol building. The point is, not all executive orders are equal and can be compared simply in total like her talking points convey.
