Washington Post: Democrats ‘Gloomy’ About Populist GOP in 2024

The greatest mistake of Donald's life was his life. Waste of that energy. Blame the universe, man.

Because there is no other explanation for people like him.
I would have to agree that he is the rara avis. And most would desire as few of his kind as possible.

Trump's type is not rare. Did you see the vote count?

Trump is supported by millions of like-"minded" clowns.

Your neighbor may not be as sane as you thought.

You have tried this bullshit so many times in the past.
When you are anti closing down the borders and
you have states like CA attracting everyone with free money and healthcare..

you are pro immigration
and pro illegal immigration

Ultimately the TRUTH may matter. And if it does, the GOP, as it has been both reconstituted as the anarcho-capitalist party --- by those that incorrectly call themselves "libertarians"--- and also deserted by traditional Republicans, is in big trouble.

The article, at least the Breitbart edited version, mis-characterizes much. As just one example, Democrats are emphatically not pro-immigration nearly so much as they are pro immigrant; there is a huge difference here. As another example, wages for Blue Collar workers are an issue in the Democratic party, just as they are in the GOP, but the positions in the too parties are 180 degrees apart. Democrats know Blue Collar wages must be brought up to "a living wage"; Republicans see higher wages as a threat to business profitability and want to hold Blue Collar wages down. They are OK with government subsidy of low, Blue Collar wages because it amounts to a subsidy of business. Again, a stark difference between the Parties..

The Republicans, those remaining, can be counted on to continue to lie to their Blue Collar base, but the base can not be counted on to remain brain dead.
It would be a big mistake for either party to assume people are dumber than they are. The contrast between the competent Biden Administration and the corrupt, incompetent Trump administration will be so evident that their may be no GOP of consequence four years from now.

It is fairly likely Trump will face a barrage of indictments over the next three years. The problem Trump will then face is the problem of every criminal: once they are on the ropes they have surprisingly few steadfast friends. It is simply a reflection of their own reliability.

The greatest mistake of Donald Trump's life was his decision to run for President. He ran as a stunt to increase the value of "his brand". He did not expect to win. He won. Now he's in a heap of trouble.

I agree. I don't think Trump's supporters are rare. I think he, Trump, is rare. And thank god! There has been one Mussolini, one Trump, in a century.

It seems unlikely Trump will end up hanging by his heels. But figuratively, yes; it is quite possible. Trump is waiting for trouble to descend upon him.

Interesting article. I know some here are not fond of Breitbart... but the article was not written by them.

Washington Post: Democrats 'Gloomy' About Populist GOP in 2024 (breitbart.com)

"Democrats got Joe Biden into the White House but are alarmed at the political power of President Donald Trump’s populist economic platform, admits the pro-Democrat Washington Post.

“Party strategists now speak privately with a sense of gloom and publicly with a tone of concern as the election results become clearer,” said the December 27 print report by political writer Michael Scherer"

Democrats are in a pickle with Pelosi staying on as Speaker.

She has sort of agreed to step down at the end of this next term but they need to move her out to start putting a new and improved face on the dem party before the midterms. They know that.

The pickle though is that if they move her out, it most likely will result in either the election of someone even further to the left or if not then the progressives will be even more rebellious and divided, having failed to get cabinet appointments in any quantity and then if they fail in the speakership then they will just shiite the bed.

I dont know where we ended out but last I followed it, the dems were only ahead by 12 seats in the house and some recounts going on. The normal rotation of political power usually means that the party in the white house loses a pile of votes at midterms, even if the president is popular. Even Obama could not stop the dems from getting slaughtered at the first midterm, although his popularity was up there. What I am getting at is that the dems have a lot of forces against them, whereby it is hard to not lots of votes at midterm even if you are doing sort of okay. Problem is they are only separated by a dozen seats or so, so they cannot handle even a small loss. Nevermind that that they probably will do a pretty crappy job and everyone will see their shiite-show for what it is.

And of course, violins and cheese improve with age- but Joe?- not so much. You gonna take Sleeparious Joe out on the trail to campaign for you at midterms? womp...womp....womp. Feel the burn.
