And I mean this question honestly.
I'd like to hear what some of you that are older or more versed in politics have to say about it.
I respect you guy's opinions. Left and right.
I can honestly say I'm not smart enough on the subject to weigh in.
He got us out of Vietnam right? That was a good thing.
Maybe America needs a sneaky president every so often.
Its an ugly world out there.

Nixon wanted to return power back to the States and remove most Federal mandates from block grants. When you have time research Nixon's "New Federalism".

Everyone has their idiosyncrasies and faults, Nixon too, but the man wasn't all bad. His crimes in today's political atmosphere were nada.
 
My understanding is he was.... With the exception of that whole criminal stint.

He founded the EPA so at least he seemed reasonable.

Little known fact is he was a Quaker and they seemed to put great value in education, debate, and oratory.

Kind of ironic how with more accessible information and technological advances, conservative movement has regressed to the dumb religious racists they were at the start. Education, decency and rationality are looked down upon as liabilities.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but Quakers are somewhat opposed to heavy duty debate and oratory and silence is the core of their belief system. And reaching consensus on things through discussion is another core value so, yes, plenty of dialogue, but not debate as political hacks think of it.

Being a Quaker was also an automatic draft deferment in WW2 but Nixon enlisted in the Navy anyway.

Depends on the sect... Catholics and Jews don't seem to have abandoned objective thought for the most part.
