Was Gann a successful trader?

Some said W.D. Gann was a great trader. But some said Gann actually could not earn his living by trading. He made his money by writting books and giving seminars. Which one is true?
 
Well, the funny thing is... Even if Gann sucked as a trader, you could prolly still learn a thing or two from his methods. Why do I say so? Because I *know* there's quite a few people trading well with some of his stuff.

there are different stories and claims about gann. i really do not know which are accurate, nor do i care. gann analysis of the market is different than trading the market.
