Warren Buffett "George W. Bush, I give him great credit for leading"

Quote from MGB:

Jealous much?

I dont say that out of jealousy...I say it because someone has to stand up for the 40 million on food stamps, the 15 million unemployed and all those guys not receiving bonuses and raises this year meanwhile working their asses off.

Sometimes sticking up your middle finger and saying fuck you is simply the right thing to do. Certainly, Im not jealous of some guy who walks over the masses...the people that I once swore to defend.

Stand up for the 40 million on food stamps. How? Stop voting for Democratic Mayors. The top 10 most poverty stricken US cities have had Democratic Mayors-Councils since The Great Society.

I give him credit for leading too...

leading us into a near depression

leading us into a never ending war in Iraq

leading us into a never ending war in Afghanistan

leading many of our parents here into emotional chaos by needlessly causing the deaths of so many U.S. soldiers

leading us to be viewed as weak and gutless in our potential to fight and win wars

leading us into being isolated from almost every country on the planet

Yeah man...Little George Bush...a really great "leader"

Quote from zdreg:

buffett would have picked up all the bargains. instead the currency is being destroyed nobody wants to hire because business realizes there are storms coming.

That would be very unlikely, since a huge portion of his money is derived from derivatives, you know the type of things he tells the crowd not to touch. But he is a market maker so what can you expect?

Quote from slapshot:

This is too stupid and rabid to respond to. Except:

Democrats ran the Congress for the last 4 years. Including the Senate and House banking and finance comittess. All budgeting and politcal sway. So, How is your life now after 4 years of Democratic Congressional control of our lives? How are your friends doing now? How about your family?

Apparently the biggest problems started in 2006 when the Dems took over the Legislative branch, FOUR YEARS of their control later and look where we are.

(PS I am NOT a Bush fan. I am even less a Democrat fan. I am a fan of the facts. If you want to blame someone, then blame Barney Frank (D) who in conjunction with others, for DECADES voted against every sincle conservative measure to reign in housing overleverage with Fannie/Freddie - the real ongoing cause of the problems we are having now - and that the Dems have passed 4 lousy housing rescue bills that have done nothing but make laywers fat/rich and done NOTHING to straighten out that mess.)

wrong again

legislators, unless they engage in business directly (specifically to take advantage of the loopholes or provisions of said legislation they pass) are not responsible for

1) those who with their political contacts form companies to take said advantage, like what happened in the mortgage mess with the Country Wide's and the Wells Fargo's and the others who played fast and loose in a conservative minimal regulatory business environment

2) those who for years stood in the door to prevent what was unleashed upon us during those 8 horrid years, should be praised, not maligned

3) .....

4) .....

5) what's so amazing is people bought the same crap all over again in the midterm election results...

perhaps we all deserve to return to the good ole' days of Bush II and that atmosphere

seems like we're well on our way there now....

those who can't succeed babble and hope to have a large pulpit from which to babble,

why he doesn't do instead of babble non-sense is anyone's guess

if the ideas were worth doing, then wouldn't he be elected already, in any city he choose?, but instead the notion of babble seems more suited...

if there were truth in statements almost like the idea of truth in lending, then there would be credibility,

which this man sorely lacks,
both his articles, news shows, perspectives which he slants the news with and such.

one would much rather see there be substance behind the babble instead of opinion wrangling....

what really is a shame is / are intelligent people actually believe ....

hey, do like the others and make it happen instead of babbling....

Quote from the1:

+1. Aside from this point, very few people realize that Buffett is just an average investor. He has the luxury of being fully invested at all times. He doesn't have to deal with redemptions, contributions, or idle cash like a traditional money manager does. He simply moves cash from the balance sheet of BRK to buy stock X when it meets his criteria. The cash on the balance sheet of BRK doesn't count toward his performance until it is actually invested. What a HUGE advantage that is.

He is a terrific businessman, however. He will go down as the best investor of all time when it should be the best businessman of all time. Whatever the case, his allegiance with politics, past and present, and with Goldman Sachs, has trashed all of his credibility. He is now just another figure of the establishment.

I agree, and lets not forget that Buffett also had the luxury of having essentially an unprecedented 60 year bull market.

Neither do most right wingers OR Tea Party supporters approve of Bush. Most of OUR country already knew this. So did you have a point to make, or is it just your time of the month again?

Quote from Gabfly1:

You realize, of course, that Buffett was referring to the stimulus package that is believed to have warded off an economic depression, right? The very thing that Tea Partyers are totally against and the reason that so many Right Wingers ostensibly don't approve of Obama. I'm just wondering if you have a point.

However, White House administration IS responsible.

From "Predatory Lenders' Partner in Crime: How the Bush Administration Stopped the States From Stepping In to Help Consumers" by Eliot Spitzer in The Washington Post (link):
Predatory lending [by mortgage lenders] was widely understood to present a looming national crisis. This threat was so clear that as New York attorney general, I joined with colleagues in the other 49 states in attempting to fill the void left by the federal government.
...
Not only did the Bush administration do nothing to protect consumers, it embarked on an aggressive and unprecedented campaign to prevent states from protecting their residents from the very problems to which the federal government was turning a blind eye.
For conspiracy theorists: this article is the likely reason Spitzer's interest in call girls got exposed. (link)

It's really quite fascinating how the disdain for Bush among the political Right is largely retroactive. He was ardently defended by most of the Right during his tenure.
