Just saw an ad on CNBC from Online Trading Academy in Orlando. They are promoting another "ALL STAR EVENT" This would make PT BARNUM Proud. Here is what I wrote. I wonder if Online Trading Academy saw this? Hmmmm???

A few days ago I wrote:

Sounds impressive doesn't it? But what did we really get? Basically a glorified version of the Power Trading Workshop only instead of having to listen to one bafoon, we had to listen to four or five of them. There was some good information but unfortunately it was so interspersed with b.s and sales lingo that 1/2 of the people walked out. And by the way, they attracted a lot less than 75 people so there was no real rush to be part of the "first 75 to respond." As for the $995 value, those who went didn't thnk it was even worth $9.95. Like the workshops, it was a glorified sales pitch. The best part about this was the hotel - Crowne Plaza is a very nice place. Also Bonefish, which was within walking distance was outstanding. My spouse and I wanted an excuse to go there (we live across town) so that sort of made up for the gas money of traveling to get there.

I understand SALES! I wasn't born yesterday. I also believe that you have to back up your promises and actually deliver on those promises. I did not see that at Online Trading Academy in Orlando.

As for the speakers coming from all over the world. The main speak lives in Orlando a few blocks away from the Crowne Plaza where this event was held. The others all came from corporate in California and were first and foremost SALESPEOPLES with perhaps a slight interest in trading.

You say you’ve taken some of the classes they overcharge for. How much good money did you spend on them?

You know that a lot of premed students don’t become doctors, others go right thru law school but never pass the bar exam and some people are just too dumb to learn anything.

Do you think that your one man anti OTA crusade is worth the time and effort you are putting in to it?

In answer to question #1, too much!

As for number 2, there you go again defending the very company that you say you have no interest in. Actually I think that companies like Online Trading Academy compare more to the 4 profit schools that make big promises and have so many encumbered with debt.

So based on your statement, are you saying that all of the people who took Online Trading Academy's classes and said they were losing money by the bucketful are dumb and stupid? Are you calling me dumb and stupid? Once again, you come across like a Online Trading Academy "used Car Salesman"

Hardly a one man crusade or one person crusade. Have you checked the internet and seen all of the complaints made against this company across the country but especially in Orlando?

So once again I have to ask, which of the two guys who work at the local Online Trading Academy are you, the white guy with the pot belly that said he was trying to get a job working for Rich Dad and Russ Whitney or the cocky black dude that claimed he was making $2,000 a day trading and didn't even have $1,000 to his name? I'm curious.

By the way, only Online Trading Academy employees refer to their company as "OTA" another giveaway.

I was told that last January Online Trading Academy at their "ALL STAR EVENT" had several of their employees from corporate staying at the Crowne Plaza. They were loud and bragging on how they go online and pretend to be satisfied customers making up outlandish claims of great trades and huge wealth and rebut people like me. Perhaps you are one of those people. Why else would you constantly rebutt me every time I come on here?

And I have also been told that the next "ALL STAR EVENT" has been reduced from the usual 2 day event to a 1 day event and will not be at the hotel but at the Online Trading Academy center which is very small. This is a red flag to me that "OTA" as you call them are probably having some financial difficulties or at the very least not drawing much of an audience any more.

As I said once before, Orlando is a large city but word gets around and no amount of advertising can overcome the bad word of mouth that is going around in this city about "OTA"

Nice try. Speaking of politicians you sound like Rick Perry.

As long as they are not doing something illegal, there's nothing wrong with Trading Academy. I'll tell you what: they have great sales people....I'll never forget my "interview" after the freebie presentation.

I didn’t say I did not have an interest in OTA; my interest is at the consumer level. I’m always looking for ways to improve my trading. The reason I haven’t taken a class or even attended the sales presentation is that their high pressure salespeople haven’t been able to convince me that I’d get value for my money.

I’ve learned many lessons from the market, at a cost more expensive than OTA is charging. I don’t want to pay for those lessons again. When I asked if OTA had a method of determining if taking the course would be a waste of my time, not to mention my money, they just suggested that I take the advanced course. That response along with some research on the web has convinced me that I would not get much value for dollars invested.

Now you bought the sales pitch, probably didn’t do any research on OTA, gave them your money and took the course. What was it they promised you that they didn’t teach?

Your expectations going in obviously weren’t met. Was there anything specific they taught that cost you money? What didn’t they tell you that you needed to know? (Not in the sales pitch but about trading)

No I’m not implying that you are dumb and stupid. Mind you; you did hand over your hard earned money to a high pressure salesman who promised you untold riches without doing any due diligence. :confused:
 
Your earlier comments make it sound like people who do not succeed with Online Trading Academy are dumb just like people who go to law school, according to you, don't do well because they are dumb. Do you have any idea of the qualifications to get into a good law school?

I will agree with you that, while many walked away I fell for their sales pitch as did a few others. My purpose here is to prevent others for falling for the same scheme. Perhaps that sense of ethics is alien to you and once again, you were the one who referred to them as "OTA" as only Online Trading Academy employees refers to them that way.

And as for me running a "one man" protest, check through some of the earlier posts on this very thread. In particular the one where the so called VP of Operations responds to a complaint which appeared to be honorable, however, when that gets rebutted, he comes back on as riffpatrol. Temper tantrum? Shock?

If people fall for stuff like tis they deserve to lose their money. You can never fall for this, first of all you always start small. Go from $100 education to $1000 etc. After doing this and only a few $100 loss you suddenly realize 99% is snakeoil. If you manages to simply lose $50k without trying cheaper ones, you fell to an emotion called greed.

Some of ET most well known vendor bashers refer to that company as OTA many years ago. You suggesting for fact or was that sarcasm that those bashers of OTA were actually employees via implying that deaddog must be an employee because he used the acronym O.T.A. :confused:

Heck, I've even seen ET management refer to them as OTA. Thus, is Baron and Joe actually employees of OTA especially considering they have closed a few prior threads many years ago that developed into heated discussions about OTA ?

P.S. I'm just being sarcastic and I do know you really didn't mean it the way you said it considering Baron, Joe and all the past/current vendor bashers that refer to that company via its acronym OTA actually do not work for OTA...then again...you could be right and this forum is just one big gateway owned by OTA to bring in new clients. :D
