Want to see what an idiot looks like

The real problem with the 40,000 people that came from China after the "shut-down" is that most went through no health screening with temperature and questions. None were quarantined. There was no requirement or recommendation that the quarantined for 14 days upon arrival.

Note that if you came from a hotspot where Ebola existed they made people quarantine for several weeks upon arrival in the U.S.

We also had a competent leader back then

Let me say... as I stated before... I give the Trump administration a pass on not acting early regarding the virus. Through January and February many countries ignored the issue for the most part... not only the U.S. Of course, all the countries were getting contradictory information about if COVID-19 was a serious threat throughout this period.

The problem with the Trump administration is that once it was clear that COVID-19 we a serious threat in mid-March they totally fumbled the ball and failed to provide leadership. They should be held accountable for this continuing failure.
The very fact that you or anyone is critiquing Trump makes it political. That is my point, it's a political discussion which has political ramifications, and to deny that people aren't exploiting that is just silly. Why would any politician of any stripe pass up such an opportunity? Why would a media outlet of any political bias just leave it alone? Just because it's about health and how that is being managed doesn't mean it cannot be used as a political tool at the same time. The two can and are happening in the same space, like everything else.

If Trump had a competent response to an critical national health emergency then he would not be strongly criticized. Maybe he needs to step up and be a Leader.

Compentency is subjective making critique arbitrary so it's political to do so. Thank you.

Tell that to Andrew Cuomo and Gretchen Wittmer. The last I checked their states had the highest death rates. I am sure you think they are doing a heck of a job. President Donald Trump has no control over the individual states and their ineptitudes. That is all on these extreme liberal Democrat governors. They are doing a fine job killing their own voters on their own.

Lets not bring up Cuomo and his decision to send Covid patients into Nursing homes. Kind of a sticky subject. If we're talking about competency or lack thereof that decision has got to be one of the worst. But again, we're not being political here so it is hands off...for Democrats
