Wall Street Art...

Not many works showing Finance in a positive light I have to admit, except the "In Greed we trust" money Note, the Gekko portrait, the Pop Art style Gekko "BUY / SELL / TRADE / GREED IS GOOD Series"...
The Candlesticks works are more neutral and address to people who enjoy contemporary abstract art and chartism.

regarding statism, I only made a discreet mention on my "Maslow Board of Trade" work, mentioning as a foot note that if Breathing Air was ever dealt on stockmarkets, States would most certainly apply a tax on it :D

One of my favourite works of art is Cezanne's "The Card Players". Something modern along those gambling/trading lines would be interesting. In fact, anything gambling or games related always interests me.

Maybe you could try and convey the excitement of the trading floor or electronic trader working from home in his boxer shorts..?

Perhaps a couple of Chess grandmasters slugging it out?

Or some day trader caught up in the heat of battle, slamming his mouse down in anger as his six monitor setup is awash with red numbers?!

Poking fun at the struggles of the ordinary day trader taking on Mr Market and losing...I think you might find a pretty big market out there for such works!

Thanks for the warn, I'll check it, I am not aware of that problem. Will check where the virus is, if I can identify :-(

I always like clever references to classic works as you mention "the card players".
I am not that much a painter though, some people here mentioned that I lacked talent and I am fully aware of that weakness. We shall see what will be my future works. Most likely contemporary stuff I think.
 
Ya if you think of this as a business, host it on a viable blog software environment like squarespace. I get warnings about some kind of javascript type virus thing going on....
 
I hope this doesn't come off sounding like a critique of you as an artist. It's not. It's a critique of your art.

Your art is cheesy. As an actual trader (as in, with a firm - where i don't put down a 'deposit'), I can never imagine putting any of this on my wall. In fact, I just moved into a new apartment and am in the market for more art; I buy from emerging artists; I like contemporary.

I want to say that this stuff repulses me. But art that elicits strong negative reaction is good (say, Bacon, for example). So what this stuff elicits is not really disgust, but repulses me with its sugary nihilistic ambivalence: it has no message; it has no meaning; it has no style. It's merely a composite of ideas that has no business being splashed together on a canvas. Yet, they aren't even disconnected enough to make that lack of connection interesting.

There's a market for this stuff I think; I don't think it's with traders/financiers; The fresh out of school young guns who might like this kind of style (as oppose to subject matters) probably would rather get a post of good ol' gordan.

I think the right audience is with 20-something anti-globalization hipster.

Thanks for sharing your point of view. I won't try to convince you of anything. I just think you're a bit harsh regarding the lack of meaning or ideas though. Your opinion is far from being shared by everyone and maybe you missed something on some pieces (if however you browsed the whole gallery). Now, be assured that I am aware that my art always needs improvement.
