Quote from Anaconda:
I find it quite pathetic that people who live in rural areas would buy food from Walmart when they can get real food from local farms or even grow it themselves. [/B]
in the food isle there is no difference between walmart selections than any other supermarket. they sell the same american brands that everybody else does.Quote from libertad:
When one can walk into WMT and find US goods on the shelves....then one could say that WMT is adding to the US....

Very true....a lot of it ....still some is foreign....
The real change needed of course is for the non food aisles....as you well know....

The point being that "common stock" is a key element of wealth distribution particularly with regards to globalization....
In many ways the US is like owning an orchard ....In the case of WMT....producing trees are being cut down in order to pay WMT....and the orchards are actually growing in size in other countries because of WMT....
One cannot continue chopping trees to pay WMT....

Quote from nutmeg:
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT), the world's largest retailer, has committed to add at least 22,000 jobs in the United States in 2009 to staff new or expanded stores.
---------------
In other news. 50 thousand workers were displaced and 10 thousand small businesses closed after Wal Mart came to town.
Which reminds me, I haven't heard anything about a Wal Mart bank charter. How come WMT hasn't scooped up a bank or two?
