w00t! IB Trading Olympiad begins

HOLY crap... the new rankings on interactive brokers has a guy at $469,000...... all I can say is WOW... is that a typo or something? Did the guy load up all of his mony in nq puts or something???

Also the guy who as at +141,000 last week seems to be off the list now... wonder what happened there

Yea I would think all of the competitors conceeds #1 is out of reach... a lot of money to be won in the other spots.. where are you currently ranked? or are you not in the rankings yet?
 
i seriously think that must be a mistake... unless you buy a crapload of puts or calls and cash out, but #1 came out of nowhere, so max would be $100,000 to spend... hhm...

He probably took a highly leveraged position in futs (100k=20+ cars per, your choice of index). Given the volatility of the indices over the past week, it's concievable to see how he doubled his money, and then doubled it again.

Extremely speculative, you probably wouldn't want to trade your real money like that, but it can be pulled-off in a competition.

how can i buy futures with ameritrade? i don't understand,... yewa, if you saw how oil fell, i see with futs

ok, so i really need to get into options and futures... i dont know if i can buy them with ameritrade.

You may want to watch out for those futures.... yea you can make a lot fast, but you can lose a lot faster...... Its not for the undercapitalized........

Like I said before, there is too much money at stake, and you are all just playing with play money. Crank up the risk and play to win. I expect even higher % returns if they are any good.
