VXX put options

Hi everyone,

VXX will have a reverse split on august 8 2016, would it be wise to buy some puts?

What does the VXX usually do after a reverse split, nog going further up I think?

Thoughts?

Splits and reverse-splits don't change the underlying economics, especially of ETFs/ETNs, although there's been a lot of academic literature on the predictive effects of splits and reverse splits on individual stocks.

For the love of Pete, not this again! Deut... is right, no impact whatsoever on an ETN. Do a quick search and you'll find an extensive thread on this very subject no less than a week ago.

Would it be wise? No. Betting on Options never is. But you're going to do it anyways so it doesn't matter.

Interactive brokers is not showing options as available on VXX after the split. How long does it take for the options to show back up after a reverse split like this?

See if they have a chain that has "(adjusted)" following the symbol. Its confusing, happened to me with Underarmor a few months ago.

same for ETrade and Tradestation. IMHO the programmers screwed up ...

You'll want to call this in to customer service....multiple times. Otherwise they're not going to figure out it needs fixing. I think they have a 100 complaint rule, they don't pay attention to any complaint until they've gotten 100 of the same one, so you might as well start now.
