VXX ETN decoupling

Can someone explain why VXX had a spike? My understanding is that administrator temporarily suspended issuing more shares. Does that cause short squeeze because people were afraid that they would be forced to cover(buy) shares? Or is just GME type irrational squeeze?

I sold some 42 calls on the spike but then got scared that some crazy sh*t happens and I will be scrambling to cover.

ETNs are a bad business. Anyone who was following the XIV fiasco a few years ago should realize that anything "ETN" is just bad. Screw that noise. QLAI, just get out of it with as little loss as you can. Which is NOW

At least UVXY is an ETF.

I was tempted to daytrade the spike, but remembering XIV and TVIX I stayed clear
