hi I just got a VPS from XYZ company (not going to ruin their name if it's not their hardware that is causing the issue).

the issue i'm facing is that the VPS is super laggy. With/without my trading platforms running.

It has 2GB ram and 60GB harddisk. Running an AMD

I've never had a VPS before.. is the above enough?? apparently the above was suggested specs for ''active traders'' but i cant even watch a damn youtube video on this thing..

Why would you be watching a youtube video on a VPS? I don't think watching videos via a remote desktop is ever going to cut it (if that's what you're doing). Lag is probably from network, not your OS, although 2GB seems like it's on the low side for Windows Server.

i'm not watching youtube. i said that to demonstrate how slow the VPS is.

even browing the internet is slow. Even when i'm typing.. my keyboard clicks clicks clicks and then half a second latter i see letters appear on the screen. it's slow.

what is your recommended ram?

i checked out many service providers before picking this one.. 2GB seemed the most common/recommended for active traders. the only offer one more upgrade from this.. and thats 3GB i think.
 
installed 2008. faster than 2012 but still slow. the server can't even keep up with my key board typing.. lags behind almost a second.

change VPS?

the computer that i'm using to remote in has 3GB ram.. brand new.. 2.2 GHZ Pentium processor
 
The lag should be due to the fact that you're sending keystrokes across the net, not the configuration of the VPS. I don't think using a VPS as a desktop is the proper use. Save it for server-type applications.

Your server, and the broker should be stationed close by!
Connection speed in the United States between servers 1-5 ms. The compound of the United States - Europe depend on the technical capabilities of providers.
There is a huge difference from 15 ms to 1 second! But at the peak load, can be 2 seconds!
With automated trading is not acceptable!
There is an important point: the legal address of the broker and the location of its main servers can located several thousand kilometers.
Your broker of Europe has more branches in the United States and Asia. If you are a resident of the United States, you automatically would tie to a branch in the United States, and the server you bought in Europe!
Be attentive to such "trifles"!

The last tip! Do not choose a server because of price!
Look carefully at the location of your future server and the broker!

Based on system requirements you described here it reall that bad and laggy I do agree, so you really should discontinue so anyway. I do agree that something like 4-8GB ram should be possible and much more disk space like 250GB or so.
