Volume/price relationship question

Im having a bit of hard time understanding this

Why does sometimes price move alot on low volume
And other times price moves very little on alot of volume
cant make sense of it for some reason

It's like driving home in rush hour traffic. Roads are congested making progress slow.

But take the same journey during off peak time and you move further, quicker.

Same with markets. When no one is around, price moves further and quicker.

And other times i see the volume is above average for that stock but price is very small increase

It is natural that there are problems at times with Skype - after all - MicroSUCK owns it.

Float - the more regular shares a company has issued to the public that are available for investors to trade the harder it takes to move the stock or vice versa.

This is daytrading 101 knowledge.

Float changes, at most, a couple of times a year and nothing to do with typical average volume or daytrading.

Whats the purpose of volume then?
Seems like its irrelevant to most of daytrading
