Volume during TA

I am a newbie in TA, How do we consider volume count during research with TA.
I have absorbed few folks saying about the "volume confirmed". How do they use the volume with TA.
 
I'm sure you'll get many responses to your question. But keep in mind that classic TA which is based on price and volume was developed decades before HFT. In recent years, much of the volume is HFT scalping which does not convey any information about longer-term (more than a minute) trader sentiment. So, volume ain't what it used to be and it's usefulness for anything beyond a liquidity measure is doubtful.
