well , well , well , what do we have here...Couple of days ago another ET member(name is "shortseller") was attacked by two posters on one of the Stocks treads. Is somebody want to guess who those members were?
Anyone ? I will give you some hints : both members displayed their usual arrogance , used the name calling , you know , the usual staff. Their combine posting total is 12k ( somebody working overtime here).

Especially notice the reply of you know who to Don Bright , where he plans to compline about him to BBB , because Bright dared not to answer his PM.

Try not to let it put you off.
For sure, there are less than half a dozen posters (on the options forum anyway) with any decent knowledge worth passing on. But it's worth sifting through the chaff to get to the wheat. IMHO of course.
You'll know who they are soon enough !

Your levels of comprehensions and skill are about the same. But that is not what irks me because we all have to start somewhere and there is no shame in being a beginner - what irks me is that both you and shortseller (you might even be the same person as shortseller using different aliases) portray that you know what you are talking about. There are probably 500 profitable traders on this site. Of those 500, probably twenty trade options profitably for a living - you are not one of them.
You should be asking questions, not giving answers.

Actually you need to do a better job with your homework. Shortseller was not attacked. We had a nice exchange and he even PMed me asking for help in reading the tape and said he was appreciative of the stuff I was posting. As for Don Bright, he and I go back years. I have nothing against Don and I did not attack. That was a joke about the BBB. Although I did want Don to comment on whether or not he was indeed teaching guys to step in front of size bids and offers. By the way, I can't tell you how many PM's I got on that tape reading thread thanking me for sharing all that info. It was nice of you to post it here.
IV Trader, I will tell you the same thing I told Short Seller, I have nothing against you personally, other then that asinine comment you made about not having a losing week in 4 years. My problem with you is that you simply don't know what you are talking about. And when you state it as fact on this forum, myself and many others are going to straighten it out. I know it's not my job to do that, just a habit I guess.
I tried to be cordial with you and explain to you why the IV numbers are not fake and you had no response to that. I tried to explain to you why trading the guts is almost never better then trading the strangle, you had no response to that either.
My simple suggestion to you is to study up on your synthetics. Trust me, you are not the only one on this board that needs to do that. So don't feel bad about it. Second, you need to study up on how time affects delta and volatility. And read up some on the difference between horizontal and vertical skews. Other then that, I wish you luck with your trading. I don't mind if you keep attacking me, it's all good. Just when you do so in the future, try to come at me with some material facts to back up your case. Thanks.

In any case, the deal with long theta/long gamma position is as follows. You can't put it up on a flat vol surface, as it is theoretically impossible. However, if you have a steep term structure of vols or/and a steep skew on the longer dates, it is possible to enter into a position like this by going short the far-dated wings and long the short-dated ats. If you are willing to take a real calendar position (i.e. 2 weeks vs 1 year), it does not take that much of a term structure to do it either.
Does that make sense to you?
I am just wondering why do you assuming that second poster was you...I never mentioned your name . I met people like you all my life , arrogance , cocky , having a God syndrom (read your statement about you being #2). They all were cowards from inside and out and just like you , they didn't like to taste their own medicine. You are not worthy of a minute of my time , there is absolutely NOTHING you personally can teach me in options or any other subject.
