@VLQ and VOLQ: New Nasdaq Vol Instruments

At 50 bux per tick, with higher margin requirement than the NQ? Nobody is going to mess with it. Stupid specs. They reached for the moon and will now lose out.

Who knows, they might introduce mini / micro / nano VLQ.

But then, even with a population of 6 billion people, there is not a single trade in VLQ.

It would take that much to be comfortable to trade the thing!

Contract Unit = 1,000 Index Points

Minimum Price Fluctuation 0.05 index points = $50.00

The specs ($50 min tick with a 1k multiplier) it's identical to VIX. Perfectly comfortable for institutional investors and nobody cares about retail much.

Most products introduced by the exchanges are dead on arrival, especially if there is good liquidity in something similar or in an OTC product. Some become liquid much later, like VIX did but most remain dead. I don't see why VOLQ would be different in any way.

how to trade this on interactive brokers? it says no such symbol.

just got a reply back from a CME guy:

"Not all brokers enable trading for new products immediately. I have been told that our product is not yet available on IB. I will revert when I have word that the product is enabled on this platform. Usually IB uses the same contract code as CME, so I would expect that the November contract will be accessible as VLQX0 when it becomes available."
