During this 2 year uptrend/channel, when the $VIX has crossed below the 11 Level (horizontal green line on the chart), the market has formed an intermediate term price high followed by a retracement.
For highs (blue lines), it has taken a retest of 11 or price divergence (as denoted on the chart) to get the sentiment shift to stick and the sellers to get control of the market.
