Viewing area on 17" lcd?

Could someone with a 17" lcd monitor measure the height and width for me? (not including the bezel of course) I would assume that all monitors of the same diagonal size have roughly the same dimensions. I'm trying to figure out the difference in viewing area between a 17" and 19".
 
It would be best to get the dimensions from the manufacturer. Here are the dimensions for ViewSonic:

The 17" screens are the VP171 Series and the 19" are the VP191 series. For the dimensions, just click on "specs" under product details, and see "Display Area".

A 17" screen will give you 17" diagonal viewing area and a 19" will give you 19" of diagonal viewing area.

Also note that CRTs and LCDs have different aspect ratios. CRTs have a standard 1.33:1 ratio but 17-19" LCDs are 1.25:1

In pixel terms that's 1280x1024 for LCDs against a comparable 1280x960 for CRTs
 
A standard CRT uses a 3-4-5 triangle. An LCD is a little taller (a 4-5-x triangle) so you need to use Pythagorean theorem which is:

4^2 + 5^2 = DIAM^2

A 17" LCD is about 141 sq inches

That comes to about a 10.63" high by 13.29" wide screen

A 19" LCD is 176 sq inches with a viewport measuring 11.88" high by 14.84 wide
