Yes, XP does automatically switch over. I tested just by unplugging the ethernet cable. I also did have to use the remote power controller once to get the DSL working again.

If you want to keep your internet service up during a power failure then you must plug the FIOS power supply into your own UPS so it doesnt realize the power has failed.
