Venezuela, the Democrats Vision for America

Sounds like a lot of hyperbole that you fear the democrats are going to destroy the Constitution and put sick policies into place. What exactly did Obama put into place that was dictatorial that a GOP President or Congress could not or did not already undo? Did Obama nationalize whole industries and take property for the government? Did Obama step in and control all currency transactions to limit imports and exports except that benefitted him? Did Obama nationalize Exxon and other oil industries and steal the money for himself and rich friends? Did Obama throw into jail or kill any GOP Congressmen or Fox News reporters who openly criticized him?


No so let's have a good discussion without the hyperbole.
 
You are correct. Obama was weak and he did not do much. His crowning achievement was Obama Care. I think that in 8 years it was the only thing he did.

Anytime the government is involved cost are bloated and output/services are mediocre - home loans for all - education for all - health care for all - they blow up.

The real scare is that many Democrats are relatively young and their idealism is not grounded in reality. We would all like things to be wondrous for all but +2,000 years of human history suggest that everyone is equal and everything should be free only works in the movies.

Fortunately, there is so much inertia in government, that regardless of party nothing gets done. Everyone, has to have real important things to do, runs around in circles until - ashes, ashes, all fall down.
 
Once again Venezuela sets a high bar for others to follow- clearly putting America to shame.

AOC and Comrade Bernie need to up their game. We know they can do it.

Read the article carefully.....the wage increases still are way under the hyperinflation the country is suffering. The problems are not the wages or the increase nor should it be used like some warning for the U.S.

Price increases quickly destroyed the value of the previous minimum wage increase in Oct. The government has directed its efforts to controlling the price of the dollar by reducing liquidity in the financial system and restricting bank loans. Maduro earlier this month vowed to lower inflation in 2020 to a single digit.

You are taking the wage increase out of context. It is not the cause of inflation, the inflation that is in 4 figures is why they raised the wages but they are mainly combating inflation through tighter monetary policy. due to their corruption for decades the economy is in the shitter.

I was listening to some discussion about the oil price situation and the impact on various countries, and Venezuela was mentioned and I ended out googling up a couple things and this little "news development" popped up:

Hey, shiite happens. Not to worry. I am pretty sure that the military has already "adopted emergency measures" to help with the upcoming parliamentary elections. Probably the DNC could give them some tips on how to proceed.
