You certainly can hire out opposition research, they just have to be registered.

The Trump campaign knowingly sat down with a representative for the Russian government seeking opposition research. The Russian government is not a registered foreign agent. And there’s also the pesky issue of the illegality of the way the Russian government concealed its activities and obtained the information in their ongoing effort to help the Trump campaign.

For some reason you guys on the right forget we know Don Jr, Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner knowingly took a meeting with the Russian government and were aware of the ongoing support of the Russian government for Trump. That was stated clearly in the Don Jr email.

And it has been established that the FBI got the dossier on an almost daily update from Nellie to Bruce and that it was leaked as needed so that it could be then fed back to the FBI from an outside source - McCain included- to make it appear that that is how the FBI became aware of it. A complete crock. There was never a time when they were not. The same game that they played - and McCabe was fired for lying about it- with the outside "reporting" that the FBI allegedly relied on to help the FISA warrant. It was all so-called "circular reporting" where in McCabe and Christopher Steele leaked/selectively briefed reporters that Trump was being investigated due to the existence of the dossier, and then when they reported it, the FBI turned around and used their reports to buttress the FISA warrant.

Let's talk about Christopher Steel again. He was fired by the FBI to be the scapegoat for FBI leaking confidential info, and now it turns out that he continued to work for the FBI after he was fired. MORE TO COME.

When the FBI/DOJ released the dossier, most pages were mostly blanked out. There is a reason for that, it does not have to do with national security. It has to do with protecting the FBI and the DOJ. Wise up.
