Yup. You got it. Professional courtesy. Maduro knows all the narco arrangements with Mexico and who all the bad actors at the top level of government are.

Maduro is an authoritarian dictator that did not allow the opposition party to run in the most recent elections against him. Surprise he gets 67% of the vote and is inaugurated January 10, 2019.

Obviously he is not a legitimately elected president. This is not in dispute, the democratic world is against him and so are his neighbors.

Young Mr.Guiardo (sp) is the speaker of the assembly (Venezuela is unicameral) being the highest elected federal official is according to Venezuela’s constitution the rightful president because maduro is not democratically elected.

As Americans, it is a no-brainer continuation of the Monroe doctrine to help remove an authoritarian dictator in the Western Hemisphere. I don't dispute any of the points you make, people are somehow buying tree's claims that I'm an advocate of Maduro's and his sham elections. I'm merely disputing Guaido's claim to the presidency. Don't get me wrong, the country's a mess, but if the guy comes into power and doesn't call for elections w/in 1yr-2, then we've just backed another fascist right winger in S. America.

I suppose overall, his claim would be no different then Pelosi's if it could be proven the Russians swung the election.


In the 2010 Venezuelan parliamentary election, Guaidó was elected as an alternate federal deputy,[13] and was elected to a full seat in the National Assembly in the 2015 elections with 26% of the vote.[14][15] Although it is an impoverished area, a majority of employers in Vargas are government companies, and until Guaidó's 2015 election, Chavista rule in the state was unchallenged.[8]

In 2017, Guaidó was named head of Comptroller's Commission of the National Assembly and in 2018, he was named head of the legislature's opposition.[7] He contributed to research at the University of Arizona, giving testimony to analysts on the working conditions of Latin American politicians and, specifically, institutional crisis and political change.[12]

In the National Assembly, Guaidó investigated corruption cases surrounding the Maduro administration, and worked with independent organizations to return money stolen from the Venezuelan public.[8] He also participated in the 2017 Venezuelan protests and was left scarred on his neck after he was shot with rubber bullets.[16]

The last part of what you wrote is where the whole situation is problematic. Maduro is in deep with the Cubans, the Cubans have a whole spy system throughout Venezuela that goes all the way to the top, hence why the generals and politicians have not turned on Maduro.

Amnesty isn’t for Maduro. That whole system is what keeps Maduro in power. They’re all scared of the Cuban intelligence on the ground and it will have to be dismantled and he is at the hub. He has to leave the country or be imprisoned to get the Cubans out.
 
It is a shit show with Maduro or Guaido because absolute power corrupts absolutely. Best solution is for Guaido to act like an interim and demand that Maduro leave and national elections are held immediately under UN and international supervision. Then at least we get a chance to see what the people want rather than someone standing up and saying, fuck that corrupt guy, I am the corrupt guy you should be looking to....
