variable amount per point

Thanks MTE. I am not very knowledgable. What will be the ETF for say ES, NQ, Dax and Dow jones ?

In general how can I calculate how many shares to buy e.g. for one point of ES?

Much appreciated

For ES it is the SPY. SPY is 1/10th the size of the S&P 500 index so 1 point in S&P 500 is equal to 0.1 points in SPY. ES is the same size as S&P 500 index and it is $50 per index point. So to have $50 per index point you need to buy 500 shares of SPY.

For NQ it is the QQQQ. (I'm gonna leave it to you to figure out the point values)
For Dow Industrials it is the DIA.
I'm not sure about the DAX.

Sorry above post has not come out correctly. My reply is at the bottom paragraph

Forget about spreadbetting, it's a totally different business model and market structure.

Thanks very much. I am going to try this on my papertrading a/c and see if I can trade futures at a lower value per point. Margin is not much problem at the moment for day trading.
