Being new around here I have to say I hope all threads are as educational and entertaining as this one. But I have to ask, is this vanzandt guy for real or just a troll? Because for some reason it seems like a few people here see him as a successful trader and everything in this thread has proven otherwise....

Van's been on ET 4 years with a reasonably high post and like count.
I've always thought of him as a veteran trader, but these last few days has been enlightening, Dest certainly appears to be the superior trader by a long shot.
Anyhow, I'm not taking sides yet, both these competition journals running side by side will be the proof of the pudding on conclusion or before.
But its comments like this next one which is like a troll's attempts to stir a fire...

I hear he's obsessed with me on that other thread. Can't handle being ignored. Best way to deal with a troll. Thats the best part. The guy's a joke. In real life he went bust several times. Thats a fact.

There's some threads from way back. I really don't care, but search for em if you want. There's no telling which of his handles to use for the search though. He's had like 4 here. Claims he forgot his password. I mean come on.

He's got a couple more new handles too, I expect a few will show up right here after this post. Likes to answer his own posts. Its true.

This guy may know how to trade flies, but bfd... he's a joke. Big blowhard. Anybody that brags in a public forum about their IQ... I mean really.... is it just me.... or does

You are mischaracterizing my idea, though. The short premium assumes money management and position sizing according to potential overnight risk. Indeed, this trade idea entails less risk than an outright position. Where people get into trouble is when they don't take into account extreme overnight moves and allow too much exposure.

There is no money management. If you need to do anything... it's already too late to do anything.

I stated that you could trade them cash secured unless spot broke out to the upside--then you decided to go with condors. Regardless, no.

Read your own BS. You stated that you were going with short strangles because of the wing-decay. We ran through the process of ICs vs. strangles and the variation margin and calculating your ridiculous haircut because you refuse to buy wings.
