USD situation getting serious

Since we haven't seen one in a while, and since Bernanke was so eager to pump 41B in liquidity in the markets for mortgages because Jesse asked him to, when do you think there will be a central bank intervention to prop this dollar? You could say that the WH wants the dollar to depreciate further, but don't we have some refunding and bond sales coming up soon? Who is going to want to buy US debt with the dollar so low? Our biggest purchaser of debt for the past few years now wants to diversify, as pointed out in the above Bloomberg article? Anyone besides me think we might see some dollar buying over the next week to prop it up and knock crude down some?

Quote from S2007S:

I agree, no one has a clue about it and they could care less about it. I have people asking me why gas is going up these past few weeks, I look at them and laugh, I say oil is headed to 100 and they are like okay....they have no clue...sad isnt it......instead of teaching kids about who the 21st president is and how to play baseball they should show them the price of oil and the value of the dollar.

funnily enough, what no-one realizes is that is the strength of america

endlessly optimistic people who can always see no possible outcome other than a positive one, focused on whatever it is that interests them rather than 5 bazillion negative aspects of the world.

watch what will happen, people will adjust / make do, and get on with their lives

there will be bankruptcies, foreclosures, etc etc

but the USA will leave iraq, the subprime banking thing will blow over, and it will be business as usual

watch

How much do you really think they can prop the dollar. You might get a quick pop but no more than a selling opp.

The dollar value has little or nothing med term with intervention it has much more to do with responsible monetary and economic management.

Re-read the bloomberg article.

I think if anything thing, it will get the players to stop and take a breath. Not really looking to push the rock back up the hill, just want to impede it's roll down said hill.

btW, if there is CB intervention, it won't be just the US, but Europe and GB as well.

So it is organised big deal just gets you in at a better price. Why is it so hard to see that the best med/long term solution is to get your montary managment house in order then the problem begins to take care of itself. Not a quick or painless fix but thats all you really want over there

explain to me where the stupidity is..... oh china lover

if someone has leverage over you - what do you do?

neutralize the leverage - but you probably havent figured that out yet
