It's hilarious, too The media will go: "Strong CAD gains due to a spike in oil and gold" but when oil and gold go down, and CAD still endures, they'll make up something else.
And if that wasn't it? A smart poster on this site (there are some, mind you) once told me that I should take what happened in the currency market, chop the statement in half and append it with a random Yahoo! news headline. So you'd have "Euro plummets today because/Britney Spears pregnant again!"
Today's would be "CAD soars to multi-year highs on news that Cat in Germany has deadly Bird Flu strain!"
or something like that. Might as well, since no one really has a clue as to the why the market does what it does on a short term basis. All we can do is take a WAG.
