Just because you dont see a man standing on your front lawn showing you his id and confessing, doesnt mean he didnt burn down your house.
 
Having lived in Zimbabwe I can tell you the intent was not to devalue the currency. Africa is a basket case, too many countries run by dictators whose only concern is emptying the coffers to buy shiny things. South America seems to suffer the same BS. Imagine a democracy with no natural resources and the kind of terrain that is very hard to cultivate. Switzerland. That's one currency that has doubled in value in 40 years, yet the USD has gained against it this week.

The reason for the collapse in value for Zimbabwe's currency seems to be tied to a collapse in farm productivity following the revolution. One consequence was of course printing, but it seems collapse in productivity was the root cause. What is your view?
 
its exactly like I said. Zimbabwe owed me money and some criminals forced them to inflate the currency in an attempt to defraud me personally. All the grief they created was just to screw over me.

The Zimbabwean army were hired out to places like Eritrea for $75 US per day. Mugabe got wind of this and paid them in Zim dollars. They went on the rampage and demanded the army 'pensions' too. Bob was terrified and opened up the flood gates. Then they started on taking the white farmers' homes and killing any who objected. Of course those farms quickly became deserts. Commerce is based on trust and nobody trusted Mugabe-and nobody would take payment for anything in Zim dollars. I know as I was there. There was no intent to inflate, just purely evil thugs stealing everything. It's that simple. A once prosperous nation was plunged into the stone age. Africa is mostly blighted by this same mentality-greed, jealousy and petty tribal wars. The country could feed much of the world if properly managed.

I don't think Zimbabwe had many creditors- the trust had evaporated many years ago. IMF and World Bank were sick of Bob's antics. China is busy plundering raw materials there.
