US stock trading halted premarket?

Not many people know this, but one of the provisions of BAC's purchase of ML was that if BAC ever fell to 52-week lows, US markets would be halted for 24 hours as sort of a circuit breaker. And after they resume, if BAC is again at 52-week lows, they will halt US markets after half a day and close the markets for 2 more days.

Tomorrow's action will confirm this. If the markets close at 1PM and stay closed until Monday - it's just the PPT at work.

thanks for the heads up - that is very worrying. I think I'll buy quite a few S&P500 puts tomorrow.

We'll find out at 1pm today if they halt trading. But if it does happen, then you know where you read it first. No doubt the mainstream media will say "no one saw it coming".
