Quote from drjekyllus:

Yeah Obama keep crying those crocodile tears. Considering 169 Americans died in the attack only a moron would accept Obama's outrage. The fact of the matter is, if Obama told the Scots not to release him, he would not have been released. Its that simple. Behind closed doors the Scots contacted Obama and sought approval and Obama granted it. Only a fool would think otherwise.

Second of all, doesn't this really shoot a huge hole through Obama's foreign policy approach. Obama doctrine states that you should go around kissing everyone's ass and in return you gain influence over them. Well where is the influence? Do you mean to tell me that Great Britian released a terrorist that killed 169 americans, and the USA, the worlds only superpower and GB's closest ally was unable to wield enough influence to stop the release. This is an absolute joke.
It would seem so far that this was an internal decision between the UK Govt, Scottish Govt and UK business interests. The UK did consult the US (GWB) when they set up the prisoner transfer agreement and did not get any objection from the US. In this case however the prisoner transfer agreement was not used as was advised by the US and he was let loose on compassionate grounds (provision in Scottish law if less than 3 months to live). We could argue the rights and wrongs of the decision all day long but to somehow drag President Obama into it as a willing accomplice into this saga is foolish and petty.
