US Income Tax Voluntary?

I was browsing Youtube and there are several video clips making that very case. Ex IRS Agents,Ex IRS Commissioners being unable to give the number of the relevant statute.Here in Britain I can go to the Government website and see the most recent Primary Legislation.If I click again I can find older Acts.Where do I go to find your enabling statutes? Was the 16th Amendment to your Constitution ratified or not? I'll attach some videos.

Irwin Shiff, father of currently in-the-news economist Peter Schiff, has been in prison a couple of times for failure to pay taxes and using this issue as his claim...

Whether the amendment was "technically" ratified, or whether income taxes are "technically" voluntary... the fact is the Gummint wants the money. And if a citizen tries to avoid paying income tax with this argument, he's almost certain to land in jail. Right or wrong, the IRS and Gummint likes high-profile cases like Schiff's... as an intimidating example to the rest of us sheeple.

It just seems odd though? There must be a Law that makes it mandatory to file? How can there be debate about whether or not an Amendment was ratified? Were the records destroyed? This is very interesting to me. You're right that they have the Guns but I can't believe such a thing exists with a 'free press'.

Where do I look? I looked at the IRS website and they can be contacted by phone.I could pose as an ex-pat American who lost his accent to ask for the Statute number (!)

The Guide to Law Online is an annotated compendium of Internet links; a portal of Internet sources of interest to legal researchers. Although the Guide is selective, inclusion of a site by no means constitutes endorsement by either the Law Library of Congress, the Library Services Directorate, or the Legal Research Directorate.

In compiling this list, emphasis wherever possible has been on sites offering the full texts of laws, regulations, and court decisions, along with commentary from lawyers writing primarily for other lawyers. Materials related to law and government that were written by or for lay persons also have been included, as have government sites that provide even quite general information about themselves or their agencies.

Every direct source listed here was successfully tested before being added to the list. Users, however, should be aware that changes of Internet addresses and file names are frequent, and even sites that usually function well do not always do so. Thus a successful connection may sometimes require several attempts. If such an attempt to access a file indicates an error, the information can sometimes still be accessed by truncating the URL address to access a directory at the site.

Good god... why do certain myth never die.

Here's a very helpful page from a George Washington lawschool law professor on common test protester arguments. He outlines the common fallacies and cites the relevant statutes.
