US Healthcare A Shame vis-a-vis Canada

The cost of small treatment in the US is so high that even if someone has insurance soon that puny insurance runs out.

Talk about $600 to get a single stitch or $120 for some small shot etc.

True many Canadians who can afford come and get treatment in the US and if a good case can be made then they probably get reimbursed by their government or get some tax credit for medical costs etc.

Healthcare in Canada, UK, France, Germany is much more feasible for general populations when compared to the US.

In US, 60% of family bankruptcy cases are related to medical costs. This alone points fingers in the right direction.

For quality hogs, just suck the boot of quality until it suffocates!!

Fact-Check time

"the number of foreign patients paying for NHS care is double the number coming to the UK seeking free healthcare – a group estimated to number between 5,000 and 20,000 by government-commissioned research published earlier this week. The new research also found that, overall, the UK is a “net exporter” of patients, with 63,000 travelling abroad for treatment in 2010

P.S. - Very few if any of these U.K 'medical tourist' patients come from the U.S. - most are coming Poland, Bulgaria, and other EU countries - which is why the U.K. is trying to get 500M Euros reimbursed from other EU countries - not the U.S.

cheers for pointing out the facts

funny thing is, you get down on that Mexican border and almost everyone goes across for healthcare, especially dental.

I don't know where the Mexicans go, but they probably have a border they cross too.

Go south young man!

Perhaps they go to Cuba! Cuba has probably the best healthcare system in the world, no delays for treatment and free (for Cubans, of course :D )

Not really! In cuba they have three prices for all goods and services
1) Local Cubans 2) South Americans 3) Non South Americans.

Even if you qualify for #3, the price of top class medical care falls at 20-25% of the US prices.
