US Foreign Aid - How stupid can we be?

Quote from RCG Trader:

Worse, he thinks 53 billion is 4 percent of 15 trillion.

I thought windows based laptops have calculators built in?
Yeah, but he's not into un-American, liberal-type accuracy.

I get that right wing nutters think going to university is a liberal thing to do, but percentages is like, middle school?

Maybe they don't have middle schools in Appalachia?

Enigma bag to 4% of 15 trillion is 53 billion? I think he is hitting the sauce.

Remember Luke, do not get behind the wheel again!

Quote from RCG Trader:

Good ol Luke, yesterday couldn't spell or type. Today you can't multiply.

Lemme guess, it was the spell checker:D

Lucrum said current budget deficit, not national debt. The 2012 estimated budget deficit is $1.2 trillion, not $15 trillion. The national debt is about $15.9 trillion.

LOL you guys stick together no matter what. It was a division error.

The budget deficit for 2012 is 1.3 Trillion. 53 Billion is approx. 4.1% of 1.3 trillion.

The point is that the US is wasting money on loser countries that dont have our interest at heart.

4% of 1.2 trillion is not 53 billion.

40% of 1.2 trillion is not 53 billion.

But hey, devotion to the impaired is an honorable thing.:)

Of course, an error magnitude 10 is irrelevant.

Wow, you really need to think before you post.

4% IS the rounded whole % number. $53 billion is 4.4% of $1.2 trillion. The $1.2 trillion is estimated. We will not know the actual budget deficit number until the budget year has been completed. Also, your $15 trillion number was off by almost one trillion dollars.

Yea it was an error BUT:

Quote from Lucrum:

Including everything, $53.3 Billion for 2012.

IF my math is correct that's approximately 40% of our current budget deficit.

It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to borrow money we don't have only to give it away, much of it to countries that don't even like the US.
Soooo as you can see he wasn't talking about:

Quote from RCG Trader:

Worse, he thinks 53 billion is 4 percent of 15 trillion. (national debt)

I thought windows based laptops have calculators built in?
Also:
Quote from RCG Trader:

4% of 1.2 trillion is not 53 billion.
As a whole %.. it IS.

And just to stay on topic, foreign aid is a fucking waste of money. Like lucrum said, ESPECIALLY if we are borrowing it only to give it away. Does that make sense to any 'progressives' on the board?
