US Feds Recover Colonial Hacker’s BTC Ransom

US Feds recovered 64 of the 75 BTC that Colonial Pipeline paid in ransom to the Russian hacking group Darkside.

Apparently US Intelligence Agencies can follow crypto transactions in detail and they can straight up hack and seize a wallet if they choose to.

Yeah, friends who work in cybersecurity have been telling me this. The blockchain isn't really secure, nothing is truly private and the race to quantum computing will determine the real winners and losers.

Bullshit.

Technically, there are machines under Ft. Meade that can easily and routinely crack RSA encryption but the government would never be so reckless as to publicly admit to using National Assets to crack private keys of fraudsters. It would be so profoundly stupid as to defy belief.

Nope, they chased down the transactions to an exchange or software wallet but they did not compromise BTC. They control the offramps and onramps but never the BTC network.
Maybe, maybe not. I have my doubts about the whole thing seeing how certain elites were telling us there would be cyberattacks last fall...then voila, here they come.

Where is the cryptocurrency security?
Be careful.
It is 100% confirmed that your wallet could be emptied out of nowhere.

At first, I thought the US should hire those smart Russian hackers.
Now, it seems like it is not a good idea.

The battle of the hacker vs hacker continues .....

Like "Spy vs Spy" in mad magazine. :)

You remind me of this man:

Barking dogs seldom bite. Dogs that don't bark are much more dangerous.

Governments don't tell what they are able of. Because that would weaken the effect if they take action.

NSA never told they read billions of emails around the world. Because that would wake up sleeping dogs and damage the result of the operation.

European police managed last year to break the code of the sky phones that were used by thousands of criminals. They did not tell that they were able to do so. They waited and gathered as much information as possible. As the criminals were thinking they were untouchable, they gave a massive amount of information to the police. That information was used to put them behind bars.

Yesterday something similar happened in 19 countries around the world. Again the police was able to do the impossible and caught again hundreds of criminals.

Nobody has any idea how hard the crypto's can be hurt. And those who know it, will not tell it. The safety feeling is most probably fake. Future will tell.

if the US can destroy the profits made by Russian professionals, they surely can do that with joe average who is holding crypto's.
