Most likely, more BS. In the field of accountancy, you audit the financial statements of companies to keep everyone honest. Without any checks, people can pull figures out of their ass. Doctors have complained of being forced to mark down all deaths as Corona Virus related even though someone might have died of heart disease instead? There is an incentive for hospitals because the reimbursement rates for Corona Virus related deaths are higher. Bureaucrats working for the CDC in their plush offices with six figure salaries also, have to make themselves relevant so, they exaggerate the figures to induce panic and hysteria among the public to be looked at as experts? Maybe, also, because they are afraid their cushy positions might get cut and they lose their jobs if they become irrelevant? There is a conflict of interest there.
