How the fuck are normal home traders meant to compete with that though, apart from just hope by luck that the are on the side of a trade at the time thatfavours what the news is!! :( :(

Most serious energy traders spend $18,000 for the Hurricane Season
( June 1st - November ) via Wilkins Weather at WeatherInsight.

Quote from Landis82:

The Storm has never been that intense or fast moving to begin with ( currently moving at only 5mph ), with pressure around 983 MB.

In fact, it has spent most of its time thus far as a TROPICAL STORM with winds below 74 MPH, than as a Hurricane.

It's what has the potential to happen once it gets into the GOM and away from Jamaica, Cuba, etc. that is important.

these systems can bring just as much damage dollarwise than some faster moving stronger hurricanes that bring very little water ....

You're exactly making my point you fool. I said it is NOT a story yet, but will be very soon. Right now you have no hurricanes. But by early next week, 2 monster hurricanes will simultaneously hit florida and the gulf

Who says that it is NOT a "story" just yet?
The morning newspaper that you read?

The markets have obviously been trading off of potential Hurricane activity for the ENTIRE WEEK!

You just don't realize it.
:(

The "fun" begins when it passes Cuba...if it hits the mountains slowly it could very well break up...if not...it will then become nerve wracking if the wind speed movement picks up...

The meaningful reports usually come out every 6hr...next one appro. 5pm est.

The HIGH that is currently over Florida has kept Gustavo tracking towards the West-Northwest.

If it gets out into open water, it could intensify very quickly - - - especially if there is no "wind-shear" in the upper atmosphere.

Son, get off the lithium please.

Even you just started a thread called "hurricane Gustav" and stating only 1 storm as threatening.

Thank You for once again showing yourself to be a TOTAL MORON . . . Mr. James Stock, Rubberbird, Manolo, and every other alias that you've had over the years . . .

Please feel free to take a look at the Oct. Nat-Gas contract chart attached below and let me know if this is a NEW "story" . . . moron.

Traders already covered shorts earlier in the week and got long. They are obviously taking profits in oil, nat-gas stocks, and are not happy with today's nat-gas inventory build of 102 Bcf that came out at 10:35AM EST.

Again, this is Hurricane Season.
No one is questioning that, and the markets are VERY aware of what is coming across the Atlantic - - - even though this seems to be news to YOU! :D

Thanks for stopping by once again and showing just how stupid you and your absurd logic is.
