fair enough, I've never heard of them, perhaps I was misinformed. To clarify, I'm not saying they are the only ones offering fiber, just the only ones (to my knowledge, at least) with their own cabling. My understanding is PLDT owns the bulk of the infrastructure nationwide, Globe has some, but not much outside metro Manila. Not sure about other companies, but I've been told most the other ISP just lease PLDTs lines and repackage the pricing plans.

Globe is pretty much everywhere with their 3G nowadays and it's semi-decent in many places (not most).
PLDT is bigger since they're leftover from the days of monopolies. Well, now it's a duopoly, not much better but that's PH. The other providers have been bought out by PLDT in recent years, there used to be a bit more competition.

I went with 4G myself, it has more than one issue - temporary disconnections and the Huawei device that comes with it is poor for regular usage (I connect it with a cable as the wi-fi is completely unreliable). On top of that the l latency is terrible but that's the technology.
On the flipside you're still connected when there are problems with electricity assuming the tower is not down and you're of course mobile - useful for services like Uber.
 
well I really don't know much about the cellular networks, I've only researched the cable side of things. Personally, I wouldn't even attempt to trade anything meaningful on the mobile internet lines here (or anywhere for that matter). Where abouts in the Phils are you? Most places I go in Manila, the mobile connection is pretty useless, they are WAY overloaded with users.
 
Makati and yes, it is overloaded. I've experienced better speeds on 3G in Cebu in the middle of nowhere.
The fixed lines aren't much better, what PLDT regularly does with DSL is when there is a new customer and not enough phone lines - they just throw out a current paying customer making him lose the connection. Some practices here are unreal.
 
yeah, that's why i say fiber is the only way to go here, DSL and 3G is dogsh*t. I've been using fiber for 4 months now and it's exceeded my expectations, it's only gone down on me once for an hour or so. the speed fluctuates between 30-50MBps, but I can live with that vs pulling my hair out with the other options out there.

What do you trade? do you know other traders in Manila? doesnt seem to be a lot around.
 
I know others who have traded here but only amateurs. It's a popular subject but the opinions are that it's either a scam or easy money.
