UpBit hacked for $50 mln

After a hacker attack South Korean crypto exchange UpBit has lost some 342 000 Ethereum (ETH) coins, equal to well over 49 million USD.

The exchange has assured its clients that the loses will be covered by its own assets, but for the time being all withdraws have bees suspended. The company says that it will take at least two weeks before its services are restored.

The attack tool place on Wednesday and 30 minutes later, Upbit announced that it had temporarily suspended withdrawals and deposits due to server maintenance.
 
It's actually encouraging to see exchanges covering losses experienced by hackers. And now they are even starting to catch hackers through the transactions on the blockchain. We've definitely got our shit together!

as you stated, - they simply stole users logins data/credentials and cleaned accounts. It was a scam not a hack.
I was doing that sort of ,,hacking" at 15 y/o in video games.
(not that im proud of, teenage mindset)

Beside the faster they catch real hackers, the faster they catch real fundamental users, drug, cartel, tax avoid money.

Double edge sword, cuz fundamental drive will be gone, and when demand is gone...


And i won't check the second page because it already has a crypto in it's name, so it's rational that ,,positive" news are in their best interest and theyre biased.

Did you even read the article? It said they hacked Bitfinex, and ALSO had a phishing sceme. We're not talking about the phishing sceme they had, we're talking about the hacking. Also, nobody cares what you were doing at 15...

The second article, you can read all about it from various news sources on what everyone calls nowadays "google." It's not my job to make you believe anything by spoon feeding you. I also could not give a fuck what you believe and what you don't believe...

I'd take huge comfort knowing that my money is locked up in some foreign exchange after they got compromised by a hacker. I wouldn't worry about their capitalization to cover a 50 million loss at all, I'd fully understand that I couldn't withdraw my money under these circumstances.

A broken clock is right twice per day. You can learn from a fool. Everybody should have at least one in their portfolio of acquaintances/contacts.
