Unvaccinated People Are Getting Priority in Expensive Treatment

I don't know nor do I know anyone in New York that works in healthcare.
Yet, I do know about 340,000 city workers was offered that option and I will assume the public hospitals (not the private) and public healthcare are offered that option too. Yet, talking to medical people in my family and friends that work in other states...
- Get vaccinated or go work elsewhere.
The latter types of people do not deserve to work in job positions involved in caring for the public.
Soon, I have a complete physical, I would be extremely offended and threaten if the person interacting with me in such a closed environment in a room...if it's someone that's Not Vaccinated.
The irony, Doctors, and Nurses are trained to understand the importance of face mask wear when performing surgery or caring for someone in the ICU. It's not to protect them from germs of their patient... it to prevent them from giving the patient bacteria or virus.
My mom recently had a minor surgery that was postponed from last year because of the Pandemic. She made it very clear that everyone in that surgical room must be fully vaccinated including those in the recovery room...everyone in fact are fully vaccinated.
- That's her right as a patient and someone her private insurance company and she have a right to expect such that type of healthcare during a Pandemic.
- Simply, this is a Pandemic...public safety is paramount and those that feel threaten by vaccines. They can find employment elsewhere although they will run into the same problem at another healthcare facility in a Pandemic.

My point, all the healthcare workers I know in other states, everyone of them are fully vaccinated. Yet, they do have some co-workers that refuse to get vaccinated via some conspiracy theory.

Had she contracted Covid and had a breakthrough Covid infection (she is fully vaccinated)...she would have sued the hospital big time and then used the financial settlement from a malpractice lawsuit to fund her retirement fund even more.

Simply, this is a Pandemic...public safety is paramount.

There’s multiple reasons why a person refuses a vaccine. Not all are conspiracy.
Seeing as a fully vaccinated person can still carry and transmit the virus, I’d much rather require everyone to be routinely tested vs. relying on vax status alone.
It’s very simple in these cases, a doctor’s office, vaccines protect the recipient not the people around them.
These same healthcare workers were called heroes just a few months ago.
It just depends on which union you belong too if you get to keep your job.
Politics, pure and simple.
Economics and Politics but hospitals being held accountable by vaccinated people for the healthcare they receive...
It's a road that hospitals find more problematic than dealing with Unions considering most healthcare workers are in fact fully vaccinated or in the process of being fully vaccinated.
The key for me is that if I have to pay for medical care...I don't want someone in one of those hospital rooms that are Not Vaccinated. Simply, I'm the paying client and if the hospital can not provide proper healthcare...I'll go elsewhere.
By the way, most hospitals in America are privately run businesses or managed by private equity firms. Those that are public, they're still managed like a business. Everyone of them have private insurers and having fully vaccinated employees is the demand by those that pay the hospital bills to be able to operate.
They gamble that soon there will be more people fully vaccinated that want proper medical care for an injury, serious illness, or tests in comparison to being treated by someone that's not vaccinated.
As I stated, it is much more than Politics... it's a business.

You say “proper care” is a fully vaxxed staff.
I say that’s rubbish. “Proper care” is a covid free environment. Vax status might give a statistical edge but it does not guarantee a covid free exam or surgical room.
I don’t care about a person’s vax status. I care to know if they’re sick or carrying the virus.
If you’re concerned about getting the virus get the jab, get the second and get the booster. Then the rest of the world can fall over dead - you’re protected right?
First, I don't work for a hospital nor do I make the rules.
Secondly, as a patient (if I were to become one) that has social healthcare here in Canada but private healthcare in the United States... it's my right as a patient to only be treated by fully vaccinated people even though I didn't create the policy for such...it was created by those that own the hospitals.
- A hospital that can not guarantee what I want as a patient...I go elsewhere with my money for proper healthcare.
- Among them, one was pressure by her hospital to get vaccinated about two months ago. She's now fully vaccinated...she's due to retire with a fat pension in two years and didn't want to screw all that hard work nor ruin her travel plans with her husband who retired 3 years ago nor cause problems if there's another Pandemic in the near future in which she may want to return back to medicine if needed.
As for a booster, I'm not eligible, and if one was available for Moderna...I have no plans to get a booster (as stated multiple times) until the fall of next year when it's time for my 2nd shot of the Prevnar vaccine if the booster was available for the general public.
As a client that does pay a portion of my medical bills regardless if it's a hospital, pharmacist, dentist, or school nurse at my kids school...I choose to be around those that are fully vaccinated. If they can not provide that service...I go elsewhere.
Right now, hospitals have decided to side with those fully vaccinated. That's life in a Pandemic.
P.S. All my military buddies are fully vaccinated. They're spread out all over the United States and some abroad.

It should also be noted that a huge majority of vaccinated healthcare workers don’t want to work with unvaccinated staff members. This is not only a customer service issue but an issue with retaining over 90% of your staff who greatly prefer not to work with unvaccinated staff members.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that critically important aspect. Most healthcare workers do not want to work side by side with other healthcare workers that are Not Vaccinated. I know my relatives and friends do not want to work side by side with them.
- Patients don't want them, vaccinated healthcare workers don't want them and those that own the hospitals don't want them.
In addition, if they plan to do international travel (e.g. vacation)...its a no go for them. More and more venues, restaurants are now requiring proof of vaccination of a Covid negative test. Insurance companies are raising their rates on those not vaccinated.
Hell, now dating apps have setup for people that only want to meet those that are vaccinated.
I'm loving being fully vaccinated especially now that my girlfriend (an ICU nurse) can now come into my home and interact with my children knowing if there's a breakthrough infection...the odds are very low that anyone of us will be hospitalized.

I had a family member, passed on long ago, who didn’t want to be seen by a woman doctor or any doctor from another country. His concerns weren’t realistic either but it was his choice, he paid the bill.
Lucky for me, my dentist and those in his office are fully vaccinated. My pharmacist and those he works with are fully vaccinated. My family doctor and private doctor are fully vaccinated and the hospital of my choice requires employees to be fully vaccinated.
- All of them did not do such for me alone...they did that for the majority of their clients or their own personal health concerns.
He specifically told me he's now fully vaccinated because of them. He does not want to risk causing them harm if he were to be Not Vaccinated although there's a low risk for a breakthrough infection. I do not know the vaccination status of his mother and grandmother but I will assume both are fully vaccinated.
As stated, if someone involving my healthcare or that of my children was not fully vaccinated, I will take my business elsewhere.
