Unsold Cars Around the World

Quote from huh:

I bought my car brand new in 2002 for about $14,500 plus tax and tags. Now I"m looking at the same model except its the 2008 version and it includes a couple useless features as standard and they have an MSRP of $19500.

Me too. bought my car brand new in 2006 for ~28k. Same make and model (just a 2009) costs $44k today.

Must be the deflation the "experts" are all so worried about.

I hadn't checked older models yet. I was limiting my search to new cars ( I know new cars are a bad investment but I had a really bad lemon back in the day!). But I think I may go ahead and start looking at older models like you suggested. I just haven't had that "Damn I wish I had a car" moment in the past 6 months!

buy off lease, 2 years old car for half price with factory warranty. Nissan for example cover transmission, engine, suspension for 4 years or 70K miles! Mercedes-bumper to bumper up to 50K miles or 4 years. if you have friend, who is used car dealer-you can go to action and buy it from there even cheaper, but you have to pay cash on spot

Quote from marketsurfer:

why aren't prices coming down then?

In fact, 2010 range rovers are the most expensive ever.

I would like to see prices of luxury cars drop.

however, they are not dropping at all.

wonder why??

:D

Hehe ok I'll bite. Why?

Maybe autos are already being sold below cost of production.

In real terms autos are actually cheap.

How many of your ET parents ever bought a new car? I've had three......now plan to drive them into the ground.

Is there a website out there where I can sell a put at $15K for a brand new car? :D

I don't want to deal with ebay, so does stuff like autotrader or cars.com allow you to put a bid up of lets say 15K for a certain car. And then dealers all over the US can see if they can match that price based on my specs (new/used, features, etc).

Sorry if its a dumb question but haven't done serious car shopping in over 6 years!

Funny how information spreads, in this day and age. I originally sent this to a friend who was looking at buying a 2008 model car at what he thought was a great price on January 19th. I told him to turn the screws on the dealer a little more. So far the dealer has dropped another 5k off the price and has been calling him repeatedly to try to close him. I said ask for more off still but I think he has decided against buying altogether now.
