Yup, I think our best hope is for successful treatment (as Pekelo also pointed) making this just another seasonal disease. Depending on the rate of mutation, likely the better approach in the long run.

I am not worrying about the lack of volunteers. Throw in a little money (just like Seattle did) and you have a mile long line to sign up.

My money is on remdesivir, an antiviral drug. Just finished Phase 3 clinical trial in China today.

Unfortunately it is double blind, quadruple masking (participant, care giver, investigator, outcome assessor) so no one knows the results/data until after unmasking and data analyzed.

Data analysis will take a few weeks. But initial leak of the analysis should come out in a week or so.

For humanity's sake, and for the market, let's hope it works.

Unfortunately it is not a vaccine, so won't work 100% of the time. But something is better than nothing. Wait, in that case we already have hydroxychloroquine.

Personally I think there is a supplement based treatment, it is just going to take forever for the medical establishment to recognize and acknowledge it. Sure it is not a vaccine but if people on it are out of work for 5 days or less, they would take it...

The side-effect profile takes decades to build. That is a proper one. We have 3 to 4 hundred trillion viruses in our bodies. Take good care of yourself, go for a walk, get some sun and fresh air. And be prepared to die anyway. What's the big deal? After all, Keyenes' last words were "I wish I had more champagne"

A vaccine for AIDS has been "just around the corner" for about three decades. It could be like, oh, never, maybe, for a vaccine for this Corona virus if was engineered diabolically well.

Would be awesome if Pitt were the ones to solve this. I'm from Pittsburgh as well...heard it takes at least a year for the clinical steps but hopefully thats not true.
