Universal Trend Trading

Quote from luckyputanski:

Ad 1. Yes. 36% DD. Not a good second half of the year for trend following.
Ad 2. True
Ad 3. Can you elaborate?
Ad 4. Really.

1. The basis for any profit in the market is a 'trend.' If the price doesn't move, you won't make or lose anything. So saying not a good second half of the year for TF is comprable to saying the market is not good for making money (obviously a false statement).

3. I don't understand how you can post consecutive losses, but somehow the account value increases. Are you making deposits or just not posting all of your trades?

Ad1. Actually, 2011 was crap for trend following in general. Look at http://www.automated-trading-system.com/ where you can find results of hypothetical systems + famous trend followers (note: I'm not affiliated with this site)

Ad3. When I post account value I post all open trades + balance. When I post trades with profit or loss - that's closed trades.

Great signals to fade.

Dont mean that as a joke, sadly as truth.

Yeah, it is quite bad. Below, 41 years drawdown, no commissions. It's only 3rd time in history something like this is happening.
Not sure about fading, though.

Your NAV is down over 50% in 4 months. Maybe it's time to reevaluate your strategy?
