From what I’ve heard it was an awesome speech. They may have tittered at the start but no one was laughing at the end.
For a good coverage listen to Michael Knowles latest podcast at The Daily Wire.

the US economy is booming; his trade war will either help the US and hurt China ( nto a bad thing) or just hurt China. the US is being screwed currently by China so it serves China right. I think those that laughed t him (and they are not world leaders - just UN reps) - will rue the day . Trump is not that stupid

Ivan

Best U.N. speech ever?

Excellent speech. It is a pity a few more Western, supposedly democratic, leaders do not follow suit and dump the UN all together. It has become a cesspit of tyrants bludging on a few successful countries.

Kevin

Well I can surely see how the current crop of world leader would see putting ones own country first would be laughable.
Perhaps voter however may not?

World Leaders Laugh at Donald Trump's UN Speech. They didn't laugh, they moved uncomfortably in their seats and muttered. Cameron, you really should get off Hillary's Twitter feed and investigate things for yourself over there in la la land. You never know what factual information you might come up with.

If only we in Australia had "leaders" who were even so much as deserving to stand in President Trump's shadow.
Instead all we get are the dregs.

Keep laughing and keep losing- Trump is the winner.

Imagine if the US refused to pay another dollar to the UN. Now that would make me laugh.

He stands as a giant surrounded by a sea of...political dwarfs. He says what he means and if a few whatnots on the floor at the U.N. Assembly laughs, so what?

Just looked up UN payments list.

Australia paid the UN, USD 56 805 623 or AU $79 million in 2017.

So that $79 million pa - equal to according to the ATO; all the personal tax paid by individuals in the Mining industry plus Public Health and Safety industry plus Electricity, gas, water & waste services.

Thats a lot of personal tax to give away to the Globalist fat cats who talk abstractions and are citizens of nowhere.

Mark

And the ALP continue to bleat that we have a “revenue” problem. I’m firmly in the “all tax is theft” camp but $79 million of our money to the UN! Wow!

I thought it was a tragedy when he was elected. How wrong I and others were. He is spot on in virtually everything he has tackled to date and is calling it as it is. Long overdue. His biggest problem is his delivery. Personally I prefer someone who has substance and does the job rather than poseurs. When he is finished in America we should invite him to fix Australia!

Alain

Hard to disagree with a single word.

Having watched the clip, the laughter was clearly from Trump's intentional, humorous quip, "so true". And then the further laughter was from his deft reaction to the first laughter.

This nonsense that leaders were laughing at Trump (i.e. insinuation that the UN thinks he's a joke) belongs on reddit or buzzfeed, not the Oz. He made a joke and got a couple of laughs and this is somehow news?

C'mon guys.

Bravo President Trump. The U.N. should relocate to Mogadishu or Harare, it is about that relevant.

Geoffrey

Oh yes, headline the laughter like the ABC and BBC. But it was "a strongly worded speech" that should be heard in its entirety instead of making selective use of what the dictators and kleptocrats club majority thought was funny.
The UN is overdue for demolition, and The Australian could do with another more reliable correspondent in the USA.

you are an idiot, They laughed at the president cause of his stupid policies and his narcissistic attitude and your come back for it is "the UN and all those diplomats who park wherever they please & never pay the tickets --- will be moving elsewhere soon." glad the unpaid parking tickets situation is resolved.

You do realize that the the U.N. is a burden on the city of New York. Trump is very aware of this in view of his history with the city.

Someone asked what "he's instructing Haley to do"? If the clowns at the U.N. are mocking him; I expect that Trump will tell the entire organization to move to somewhere outside the U.S.

NYC makes a hefty profit from the UN.

"U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley on Wednesday claimed President Donald Trump’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly a day earlier drew laughs because world leaders “loved his honesty” and “respect” him."

Kim Jon Un's PR department would baulk at that bullshit.

However Nikki Haley is as shameless as Hillary was ever accused of being.

Haley — South Carolina’s first female and minority governor and the country’s second Indian-American governor — listed her race as “white” on her 2001 voter registration card.

The state Democratic Party, which first obtained the public record, is calling Haley out on the matter and challenging whether her inconsistency on the card might have made her ineligible to voter under the state’s new Voter ID law.

Dick Harpootlian, the party chairman, said whether Haley listed her race as white or not doesn’t really matter to him, but the issue is that the governor has shown a pattern of such actions.

“Haley has been appearing on television interviews where she calls herself a minority — when it suits her,” Harpootlian said. “When she registers to vote she says she is white. She has developed a pattern of saying whatever is beneficial to her at the moment.”

US out of the UN, UN out of the US. That was a great idea 50 years or so ago when the John Birch Society was pushing it and it still is.

And they can take Nikki Haley with them.

Seems you haven't been paying attention to elections since Trump became President.
Seems it's you who isn't paying attention.
The left is failing and fading.
Trump's approval keeps rising.
Republicans satisfaction with the party is rising.
Barring some new unforeseen incident - Red Wave coming...
