United Airlines ( UAL)

Of course, all of this is self-inflicted. He refused to comply with simple instructions. Life rule: when a police officer asks you to comply ('pull over', 'license and registration', 'get off the plane', whatever), you comply. If you have an issue with the officer's conduct, you take it up with your lawyer afterward. In the heat of the moment, you comply with the officer.

This guy will be rewarded for his noncompliance / tantrum with media attention and probably a financial settlement. This will incent future passengers to refuse crew / police orders, which will hold up future flights. Bear in mind, there are 100 others on any given flight, all eager to be on their way, and un-eager to be held up by a noncompliant passenger.

He will be rewarded with damages and punitive damages DEFINITELY because he was brutally assaulted with unnecessary force, willful breach of contract by failure of specific performance on the part of the contracted airline carrier and life endangerment by the physical assault (he was beaten unconscious after he was taken off the plane)

Thanks for being the United Airline cronie but because of those "100 others" who just contend to be sheep to be "on their way" and "un-eager to be held up", airline companies get to walk all over us to treat us like shit and if we ever dare to say something, we get publicly humiliated and punched unconscious like this doctor. Thanks for enlighten us!

When they build that bridge from Alaska to Nowhere you won't ever have to fly again. New Jersey to TimBuktu via Siberia.

the reaction of the CEO was quite idiotic. Probably, he thought UA is the only airline in this country. he didn't learn from business school customers are always right especially in the service type of business. The future of United Airline depends how Chinese in mainland China react to the incident. if they're going to boycott the airline, then Southwest, Delta, AA are going to eat UA's lunch and dinner.

Already has. :)

Assaulting someone over a contract dispute in Cook County?

Just to be argumentative, the airline can pull the "not following orders when asked by the police" defense and counter sue for damages. Not to mention it was the Airport Police not the airline who used force...

The airline can play whatever card they want--they'll be playing it to a Cook county jury (or if AIG--I presume the insurer--is smart, they'll settle this one quickly and quietly and pay for a non-disclosure)

--You're talking about a medical doctor, with a doctor wife, and 4 doctor kids. He's a sympathetic plaintiff.
--the videos are widely published. They'll be admitted as evidence. Even if UAL had an argument to suppress the evidence, a Cook County judge is the least likely venue to suppress.
--Chicago Dept of Aviation has initiated disciplinary proceedings against an involved officer.

But these are just facts...they're much less important than the trier of fact.

REALLY? So because he made some mistakes in his life over TEN years ago, so now he deserves to be punched in the nose, beaten unconscious and publicly humiliated in front of a full plane of 200+ passengers?

Well...he certainly had the option of standing up like a man and walking off the plane instead of having to be carried out like a baby.

And all those virtue signaling passengers with their phones out crying about how "wrong" and "Horrible" it was could of at any time said "Hey, I'll give up my seat", but did they? No.

The guy brought it on himself. IMO he got exactly what he deserved.

Really the next time the police whacked you unconscious for something that you did not do, let's see how "man" you will be when you want to protect what you are entitled to. LOL

You are the reason why United Airlines can do what they did on Sunday and get away with it. Very sad.

If my airplane is 2 hours late because my fellow passenger doesn't follow police orders, I will beat him unconscious... How many people missed their connection because of him?
