Unions

Quote from denner:

My biggest problem are the legacy costs. I'm less troubled with the wages they make during their working years (and yes in many instances they are non-competitive with the private sector), but the fact that the taxpayers are responsible for the legacy costs of a broken pension system is the main issue. In many cases, there might be 3-4 people (when including legacy costs) doing the same job. This is an unsustainable burden that someone will have to address (either willingly or unwillingly) and very soon.

It's all a huge problem. The average public worker makes almost double the average private sector worker for the same job. That's fraud from the union/democrat criminal pact. I have a big problem with that when we are $15T in debt. And, yes, legacy costs will kill off the USA. The more the average joe blow private sector guy who plays by the rules understands this shit, I hope the more is done to throw out the dirtbags behind it all.

Quote from Stok:

The problem with public sector unions is not the union itself, it's the corruption with the democratic party in which lavish benefits are handed out in return for votes and union money. It's one of the biggest frauds in our political system. And, remember public sector workers get paid much higher than private sector. Better benefits and bigger pensions, which the private sector has to pay via taxes. It's a racket and should be criminal.

Let's not forget also that (1) non-profits are forbidden under federal law from engaging in political activity, yet non-profit unions are the most blatant political activists and power brokers in the country, and (2) unions are exempt from antitrust laws.

These two circumstances alone give unions, particularly public sector ones, unparalleled political leverage. Witness how many times the SEIU chief has visited the Obama white house to influence policy.
