...President Donald Trump said Thursday he won't "waste his time" participating in the second presidential debate next week after the Commission on Presidential Debates announced it would take place virtually in the wake of his Covid-19 diagnosis.

The debate is still set to take place in the form of a town hall, but the CPD said that Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential nominee, would be invited to participate remotely. Moderator Steve Scully of C-SPAN will be at the venue that was slated to host the debate, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, next Thursday, Oct. 15.

In an interview on the Fox Business Network on Thursday morning, Trump said the new debate format is "not acceptable to us."...

I knew that was going to happen but I did think it would be announced by his Doctors via them stating he's still dealing with Covid-19 issues and that they recommended to him that doing the debate is not good for recovery of Covid-19 (e.g. visibly he may start sucking air towards the end of the debate).

Just a little surprising the he didn't use the "doctors excuse" to get him out of the debates but now looks like he just decided to back out himself.
  • Now the real question...
What happens if Biden shows up to do the remote but Trump does not show up because of his own personal reasons of not wanting to do it or for health reasons ?

Does it then turn into a town (national) hall meeting because I can't imagine the TV networks setting aside a time slot for them to debate just to see one of them back out.

Big mistake by Trump. He needs to be next to Biden in any way shape or form for comparison’s sake.

I don’t think he’s scared of Biden but do think he is nervous about bombing so bad twice in a row.

I really think its health related issues...the imagery of him on the White House balcony sucking air because his lungs are not at full capacity is unforgettable.

Yet, it would be a sign of weakness had he admitted to such.
