Does anyone know where one can find historical data on the Unemployment rate and what was expected?

The historical data on the unemployment rate may not be very useful. I believe the Labor Department changed the sampling method few months ago.

I am looking for data in the past as well as the current to run statistical tests. Not sure where to find it tho.

not including the late 70's/early 80's, the post WWII unemployment rate has hovered between 4-6 % most of the time.

some where in this mess http://www.bls.gov/data/home.htm but they will issue a revive number to suite their need anyway

The market doesn't trade the way it does because of the unemployment rate.

The market trades the way it does because of the unemployment rate relative to the expected unemployment rate relative to the previous unemployment rates relative to all of the adjustments that will be made to the latest unemployment rate.
