An elderly couple in Florida was arrested and charged after acting as vigilantes and shooting at three Black people they wrongfully believed were stealing gas.

Clemons and McMillion were in the process of dropping off a U-Haul truck in the Fountain Plaza, which the elderly couple currently owns. Their plan was to drop off the rented U-Haul and then leave in McMillion’s GMC truck.

The Fountains, however, were hiding inside of another U-Haul truck, claiming to be on the lookout for individuals who were stealing gas from the rental vehicles. When they heard Clemons’ and McMillion’s voices, they assumed they were stealing gas, rather than returning a vehicle.

We must really be thankful that we have them, and we have to help them do their jobs. We can’t be threatening them with their pensions are going to be taken away, their job is going to be taken away, everything is going to be taken away — they’re going to be living a bad life if they utter an incorrect word. You can’t do it. We have to have our law enforcement.

In other words, give police absolute authority with no reprecussions because why should they be punished for doing something wrong such as taking away a pension when they can take away a life for doing something wrong.
