UK is attempting to simply not implement Brexit

The global theme is suppression of democracy and will of the people. And imposition of Rule by Elites.

That is what we are witnessing all across the world, today. THAT, Sir, is Tyranny.

This is why I am always willing to listen and go my way to understand every poster.

You talk about Elites :
* who are these Elites?
* where do they come from?
* what do they stand for?

Suppression of democracy : in the UK, they had elections for the Brexit.
There were real debates - in the media, in public places. People got informed.
Can you give exemples of how democracy got suppressed ( in the USA)?
Suppression of the will of the people : can you tell more about this?

On the day the majority of voters voted for Brexit, true. But, is it what the majority of Britons want now? Some leave voters have admitted their regret. And every day, as the old die and the young reach voting age, the shift is towards remain.

Not all, but a large proportion of leave voters voted out of ignorance.

The top two reasons for wanting Brexit were:

1) "More control over borders";

2) "Saving 350 million GBP per week (which could otherwise be spent on NHS)".

These were the soundbites that got most traction, and were the reasons for wanting to leave according to post-vote analysis.

After taking into account an economic slump and the EU subsidies hole (and other things), that +350 figure will in reality be negative. And reducing immigration ("taking back control of our borders") comes at a cost.

It's fair to say few got what they wanted.

Will leaving be a good thing? Most agree, not in the short term. In the longer term, maybe, but a lot can change.

I'm undecided whether the risk was worth taking.

western governments are function of western people...

democracy did not fail - people failed... Theresa is not form Mars - Brits got her elected, same way we elected our morons...

The Government of the UK and the US is what's wrong with "one man, one vote".

The genius founders of America did not plan for everybody to have a vote. They understood that voting for the leadership of the country was a big responsibility... and should be entrusted only to those who are informed, pay attention, and have skin in the the game.

What we have now is a majority or near majority of leeches and parasites... who don't know "come here" from "sick-'em"... voting primarily for more freebies for themselves at the expense of other citizens... and politicos using that BS to grab and consolidate power. Unfortunately, it will likely take a civil war to turn that around. (Worse still, many of the handout recipients think they are "cool"... not working and still "gettin' paid".. and that the rest of us worker bees are fools and chumps working to pay for their freebies.)

agree

but i doubt it will ever change

what i think is maybe possible to change is to assign a weight to the vote of each voter

weight should be variable point system based on how much voter's skin is in the game and how much the voter is independent, self-sufficient and productive member of the society

something like that: sitting on welfare - minus one point, running your own business- plus one point, paying taxes - plus point, not paying taxes - minus... etc, etc

therefore those how pay should order the music, not the other way around

To leave the EU, put a cross in the box that is the odd one out (and provide your tax returns):

its all sounds nice, but considering the fact that just recently we couldn't organize proper counting of the regular votes and manually and visually examined the hanging chads :) one should wonder who and how will interpret voter's abilities and how will assign to them theirs weight... :)
