UK foreign sec. says EU should work towards including Middle East & N. Africa

LOLWUT??? :D It's kind of early to be that hammered man.

I was uncertain you were Savant, since I figured he was 1prometheus, a character a bit different from you. But the mention of phenomena, yep, that's a direct hit. You are phenomena. You fucked up with the emoticons.

Well, summers aren't "blistering" but they sure as hell aren't comfortable with no A/C. They are warm, sticky, humid in the UK. You can't sleep comfortably. They are just used to living a less comfortable existence with no central heat or AC, very small, modestly furnished, yet obnoxiously expensive houses, taxed at multiples of US property tax rates. More expensive food, gas, entertainment, clothing, while being taxed a higher % of their income. They are simply used to a lower level of comfort in life. I don't mean that in a condescending way. I have nothing against English or European people, but it's true.

Quote from byteme:

Wow, how do they survive the 9 months of blistering heat?

Quote from Artful D0dger:
Well, most of the UK has no central air conditioning, and most places don't have duct heating. Taxes are higher than in the USA, both income and property tax, as well as sales/vat tax.

Property is far more expensive by a HUGE margin than in the US. Fuel costs far more. Food, clothing, entertainment, are all more by a wide margin than in the USA, and homes are on average far far smaller. You pay more for less size and lower quality. Those are all accurate statements. How on Earth could you possibly refute any of those assertions?
What are you smoking, man? There's NO such thing as "property tax" in the UK... There's stamp duty, but that works differently. The rest of your gibberish is pretty much that. If you want to support your assertions, the only way to do this is provide numbers. Otherwise, you're just making silly statements.
Of what descent then?
Papua-New Guinean :). Why the heck should it make any difference?
Quote from Artful D0dger:
I really don't care. I know the facts. Anyone who has resided in both already knows. I'm not trying to change your mind, I don't really care what you believe. You're entitled to believe what you want and I don't really feel like digging up all the facts to try to convince you otherwise, mostly because that isn't what this thread, or this discussion is about. It's about Europe's future and Labor's vision for it.
You don't know diddly-squat, as evidenced by the nonsense you're spewing as "facts".
Quote from Artful D0dger:
Well, the HDI can be a bit misleading because it doesn't factor in taxation to the income, and doesn't take prices into account.

However, even with the HDI there is only ONE European nation higher than the USA, and it's not even in the European Union; Norway. No other European nation is higher on the HDI than the USA.
You don't really understand how the GNI component of the HDI works, do you? And yes, you're correct on the 2011 HDI rankings, but now ask yourself one question. What's missing from this picture?

Quote from Artful D0dger:

He said a successful EU must be prepared to "deploy soft and hard power to promote democracy and tackle conflict beyond its borders".

What is with the human obsession to expand their circle of influence "beyond its borders"??? Is the EU some kind of political religion trying to seek converts?

For the same reason the US and Canada are working on a perimeter security plan. It's a recognition of the ecological reality of your "administrative unit" and the utility of pushing the conflict boundary farther out.

I dunno, I thought Homoph0x and phenomena were separate posters. There was a time when they were both posting heavily, no? That takes a bit of work. Hmm, unless you're using tabbed browsing and a proxy server... hey!

Ricter, I do not remember if they post to the same time. I am only guessing. :)
